Brett stayed up late over the weekend furiously story boarding for the film he wants to shoot over spring break the last week of March.  Monday morning he headed back to the classroom.  A few hours later he walked through the front door at lunch-time looking like he was ready for a nap.  Before he left to go back to school he made himself a cup of coffee, but he forgot to take it with him.

Last night, while cleaning up after dinner, I noticed the cup of coffee still sitting on the coffee maker.  I offered to make him an iced coffee.  Brett thought iced coffee was a great idea so he agreed.  Since I have never made iced coffee before I looked up a couple of recipes online and finally decided on a Starbucks Mocha Frappe copycat recipe.

Since Brett decided to go sugar-free for the month of February I guessed on the amount of stevia to add.  I measured and poured everything into the blender and hit the blend button.  I stuck a straw in it and took it to Brett to taste test it.  He sucked a sip up through the straw and made a face.  It needed more sweetening.  I put it back on the blender and added more stevia, hit the blend button to mix it up and took it back to Brett for another taste test.  This time he deemed it perfect, just as good as Starbucks in fact. I wrote down the recipe so I wouldn’t forget exactly how I had made it.

The Bible is full of recipes for how to live a life that God accepts.  Revelation 3:16 says, “So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth.”  Apparently God has a recipe for us to live by.  If our actions are not the correct temperature when he taste tests us, He will spit us out!  Just like Brett likes his iced coffee with just the right amounts of sweetener, vanilla and chocolate, God has a recipe for Christian living.

If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.  1 Peter 4:11
