Where Am I Going?

Yesterday I published my 400th blog post.  Just a little over a year ago I challenged myself to write a blog post every day for a year.  I did with the exception of a few days that we were out of range of the internet.  This year I decided to continue blogging, but I didn’t commit to every day.  I have skipped a few days and it would be easy to quit altogether.

Before the thought randomly crossed my mind to blog every day for a year, if someone would have told me I would someday have posted over 400 blog posts I would have laughed in disbelief.  Me?  Write?  That much?!  I was the type of student in school, who when the teacher told the class to write a 500 word paper,  would write and write and write and count my words, only to end up with about 350 instead of the required 500.  I would write and write and write some more eventually reaching the required verbage.  I would look in amazement at others who said they had written 1000 words and needed to cut out 500.  I just didn’t understand that at all.

I think most people, including myself, wonder what our future holds.  A move?  New job?  More school?  Unemployment?  We don’t know what our future holds, but we do know that God has a plan for our lives.

I don’t know what this blog has done for any of the readers, but I know for me it has provided the self-discipline of writing everyday.  It has convinced me that once I had committed the blog to God that He would provide a topic to blog about despite my lack of ideas.  Sometimes I would start out with just one sentence having no idea where I was going and eventually had the whole blog written.

That’s kind of like life, isn’t it?  We stand there, not sure which way to go.  In fact, we can’t even see beyond the first step in any direction.  But, if we commit our decision to God, He will bring us through to the end that He created for us.

One of Brett’s favorite sayings goes like this: “Whatever the next right thing to do is the only part of the future I need to know.” If we live like that, step by step, we’ll find ourselves walking the path God had planned for us all along.
