Even though it has been over a year since we moved here, Aspen still shrieks with delight when she see’s the local deer wander through our yard or across the field behind our house.  Sometimes it has only been a few hours since she saw the last ones, but it doesn’t seem to matter to her, it is as exciting for the one hundredth time as it was the first time.

The weather has warmed up and the last of the Christmas snowfall is melting away.  I stepped outside today and noticed the little deer tracks I had seen a few days ago in the snow are now about five-inches across.

The deer hoofs pushed through the snow and made a small hole.  Later the sun came out causing the imprint to melt and grow larger.  As we pass through life we leave our prints behind us.  We never know when a small decision that we made will grow bigger.  If it was a good choice then our lives and the lives of those around us who were impacted by our choice will reap the joys and blessings of goodness.  But, if at the moment of impact we chose unwisely, that choice will also grow with time impacting not only our life, but the lives of those around us.

Aspens joy at seeing the deer every time certainly impacts the rest of us in the house.  Even if we don’t get as excited as she does, her joy at least momentarily increases our joy.  God is the giver of all good things, joy, happiness and even wisdom.  If we need wisdom to make good choices we just need to ask God, who gives generously to all who ask.
