The first day of the new year is almost over.  I’m sure resolutions have been made and broken already.  But, each day is a new creation.  Just because I may have failed today, doesn’t mean I have to plan failure for tomorrow.  Tomorrow offers a new opportunity for success.

Not only is each day a new opportunity for success, but success can be measured in moments.  When I am having a moment that I am teetering, or possibly having already fallen over the precipice of failure, I like to recall to mind the text found in Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

On the first day that God began creating this earth He started with nothing but a mass floating in space.  “Everything was dark.  Then the Holy Spirit hovered over the vapor,  and God said, “Let there be light.”  And everything was bathed in light.  God looked at the light and was pleased.  (Genesis 1:1-3)

When my moment looks dark because of a wrong choice, I just need to call on the Holy Spirit to surround me with God’s truth.  I need to cry out to Him, “”Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”  At the moment of failure I am just a mass floating in dark space, but when I cry out to God, He says, “Let there be light.”  Let us choose today to live in the light of God’s presence, not just everyday, but every moment.
