While I was vacuuming tonight I wondered if God ever gets tired of cleaning up our same old messes and mistakes. But, after a few more swipes with the vacuum cleaner I decided He probably doesn’t. After all what parent gets tired of watching their babies and children learn new things. When a baby is learning to walk and falls down the parents just helps them up and cheers them on. No matter how many times they fall down the parents is just excited to watch their baby learn something new.
It’s possible that as Adventists, who tend to be a bit more on the legalistic side whether we mean to or not, forget that most of how we learn in this life is by trial and error. I have not met one person in this life whose path to Heaven was a straight line. It’s usually a bit more like three steps forward and two steps back. However, when our errors are educational and messes meaningful, I don’t think God minds in the least “cleaning” us up as He knows us better than we know ourselves.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful, and just, to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
