My poor sweet husband caught a bad cold about a week and a half ago.  He stayed home from work a few days last week, but he has been going to work this week.  While he feels obligated to go to work, when he come home he is so tired he would just like to sleep.  Part of his tiredness stems from lack of sleep due to a bad cough.  He has several errands he would like to run, but the residual tiredness from being sick keeps him from  doing anything besides such necessities as work.

The spiritual application to Brett’s lack of energy?  If I allow my spiritual life to become ‘sick’ I do not have the energy or even the desire to do the spiritually good things I should be doing.  Which of course just leads to a vicious circle of repeated sin.  I’m so thankful that Jesus is the Master Healer.  I don’t have to call Him up and hope I get an appointment sometime soon.  But, I do have to surrender my entire sickness to Him.  Funny how we are so eager to entirely get rid of our physical illnesses, but when it comes to spiritual sickness we seem to want to hold onto it.  Jesus greatest desire is to see you let go of spiritual illness and let Him heal you.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9
