Tonight, at the end of a rather uneventful day, I have sat down at the computer and typed in “www.wordpress.com” to write my blog post for today. After looking at this blank page for a moment I glanced up at the Olympics monopolizing the television screen at my in-laws. The USA men’s gymnastic team flipped through the air running through their routines. The first thought that ran through my mind: “Wow, I wish my daily spiritual routine looked like that!”
I know that these Olympic contenders practiced more hours than I want to think about to perform such difficult routines and make it look so easy. It makes me realize that while I am so proud of myself for any small amount of exercise I manage to eek out that it is laughable and paltry compared to the dedicated effort required to compete in the Olympics.
I realize that if I desire my daily spiritual routine to resemble the amazing feats performed by the athletes at the Olympics then I need to make spiritual growth the #1 priority in my life. Not just once a week or every morning, but every moment of every day I need to be ready to respond positively to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit.
