I’m thinking about investing in a bug proof suit. I’m tired of going for a walk or stepping outside only to have bugs buzz my ears and eyes, and try to fly in my mouth when I open it to have a conversation with my husband during our walk. If it weren’t so hot out I would put on a hat that covers my ears, sunglasses and a surgical mask and wear long sleeves and pants. My neighbor and I have actually worn surgical masks while visiting outside amid watching the kids play.
The bugs have given new meaning to the text, “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:11) If I put on everything but long pants a bug will eagerly chew up my legs. If I leave off the sunglasses, a bug will fly smack dab into my eye. And while I believe some protein is a good addition to my diet, I’m not so sure that the random bug that flies down my throat qualifies as a good source of nutrition. Every day we must dress fully in the armor of God. Any place we leave open the devil will take full advantage to attack us.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. Psalm 18:2 NLT
