I’m sitting at the computer and my cat is munching on some “Sun Chips” that Aspen left in a snack size bag on the computer desk.  I groan at the audacity of my cat.  I spend too much money on a high-quality cat food in order to reduce obnoxious litter box odors for her to prefer eating junk food snacks.   But, kitty does not seem appreciate my desire for her good health and probably doesn’t care what her litter box smells like.  She loves Frito’s, popcorn, frosting, and fish crackers are a big favorite.  And while she ate half a veggie burger the other night, she will leave canned tuna just sitting there.  She loves to eat snack foods and then just leaves her perfectly good nutritious food sitting in her bowl.

My cat also does not seem to appreciate that we keep her indoors so that she remains safe and doesn’t become eaten by various larger than her wild animals that live in the forest surrounding our house.  She loves to sit at the window and watch the birds and squirrels and dream of being a great hunter in the wilds of the out-of-her-reach yard.  When I open the door, despite knowing she isn’t supposed to go outside, she gives in to her “the grass is greener past the open door” belief and attempts to escape her wonderful loving family.

Think about how God sent His very best to this earth for you.  He sent His very own, only Son to die for you so you could live with Him in heaven.  God has set a bountiful table of blessings for us to sit down at and enjoy living in His presence.  Are you choosing to escape the care of your Father in heaven for your perception of freedom in “greener pastures?”

God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.  John 3:16 Gods Word Translation
