“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire men to work in his vineyard…….When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’  The workers who were hired about the eleventh hour came and each received a denarius.  So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius.”  Matthew 20:1, Matthew 20:8-10

When Richard turned ten he received a butterfly catching kit.  He excitedly got up the next day and took his net out to the field behind his house.  He chased butterflies all day catching some here and there.   Finally after a long  exhilarating, but exhausting day chasing and catching butterflies he heard his mother’s voice call him inside.  He paused for a moment and realized that it would be dark  soon.  Richard took his butterflies and headed for the house, then he paused as he saw another butterfly land on a twig just ahead of him.  He wanted that butterfly.  Ever so carefully he lowered the net and it was his!  Success at last.  Richard’s eyes shone with excitement as he put the butterfly with the rest of his collection.  He whistled a happy tune as he finished the short walk home.  He had worked hard all day and couldn’t wait to show his mother all the special butterflies he had caught from sun up to sun down.

“My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways. . . . For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isa. 55:8, 9
