Richard walked into the bank.  He owed a lot of money and he didn’t know what to do.  He wanted to pay off his debt and he didn’t want to lose his house and car so here he was ready to talk to the loan officer.  The loan officer carefully looked over all of Richards paperwork.  He looked up over his glasses at Richard and said, “I will make you a deal, you can make payments monthly for the rest of your life.  When you die, you will still owe us money but we won’t take your house or your car.  It will never really be yours, but you can use it as long as you pay us $8,764. 53 per month for the rest of your life.”  Richard’s heart dropped to his toes, actually it felt more like it fell out his toes and down into the darkness of the basement somewhere.  His life would never really be his, he would just work, work, work the rest of his life and never even pay off his debt.

Thats what our life is like without the forgiveness of God erasing our debt.
