When I lived on Kodiak Island in Alaska there wasn’t much sunshine. Ever. Overcast skies and plenty of rain seemed to be the daily forecast. Once during the months of March, April, and May we had overcast skies and rain every day. Well every day but one. There just so happened to be one day in the middle of April that the rain stopped and we had a slit of blue sky peek through the clouds. I’ll have to admit, it was pretty depressing and I have loved sunny skies ever since. When we moved to Colorado after 10 years in Alaska, I couldn’t get enough of just looking at the pretty blue sky. And later while living in Las Vegas I’m sure I appreciated the intense heat of a cloudless hot summer day more than the average person. It may have been hot, but the sky was beautiful.
Today I want to encourage you to let you life be like a clear blue sky; Allow the brightness of Gods light and love shine directly into your life and not be obscured by the clouds. Clouds of busyness, self-absorption, addictions, obsessions, anger, resentments, pride. Please don’t let the day go by without making a direct connection with God.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow–not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below–indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
