I bet you slept all snug and warm under a toasty blanket last night.  When you bought it, you bought it for the purpose of keeping you warm.  It was made to keep you warm.  In a sense it is surrendered to keeping you warm since that is what it was made for.  But, have you ever had someone you are sleeping with hog the blanket from you?  How do you feel about that and what do you usually do?  It is usually incredibly annoying and you pull and tug to get your share of the blanket back.

As Christians we are surrendered to God.  We live for Him and have agreed to give up living for ourselves.  But so many times it seems that the un-surrendered parts of us don’t seem to bother us, we are more annoyed and frustrated by somebody taking our share of the blankets than the fact that sin is taking away from our full surrender to God.

God does not expect us to do it alone.  The Bible tells us in Mark 9:23 Philippians 2:13, “It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure”.  I picture Jesus working in your life to rid you of sin the same way He charged into the temple and chased out the money changers.  Jesus is our Deliverer from sin, when we surrender all to Him, He goes to battle for us.   Jude 24–25 tell us, “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever.”
