We have moved five times in the last five years.  In the process I have refined my moving skills.  I label every box with exactly what is in it.  I put a big red X on the important, can’t do without boxes that I must have when I first arrive.  The boxes with the essential kitchen, bathroom and bedroom stuff, that way I know to take those into the house while the others can wait in the garage til later.  But then I get down to the very end of packing and invariably I have a couple of boxes that I used to label, “Stuff”, but now I write, “Ugh”, because I know that is what I’m going to say when I open that box….”Ugh”.  If you have ever moved I’m sure you have had the same types of boxes…..the boxes you throw the kitchen junk drawer stuff into along with various other random small items that didn’t go into any of the other boxes.  I don’t open these boxes til I have to and when I do I’m quite sure that I should have just tossed them into the nearest dumpster.

I think we allow junk to collect in our lives as well.  Little stuff that just piles up that we should have gotten rid of a long time ago, but we just keep taking with us.  Personally if I bother to think about it I’m still a little miffed at my 2nd grade teacher who erased some pages that I had worked ahead on.  Now I could have understood if I had done the work wrong, but it was right!  Little things like that add up and turn us into bitter, disagreeable complainers.  It wouldn’t hurt to give that stuff to God.  I’m sure when He sees the boxes labeled “Ugh” He won’t bother to open them, He will just throw them into the bottom of the deep blue sea!

Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!  Micah 7:19 New Living Translation
