Cats are generally known to be picky eaters.  I know that our cat has her favorite food and will not eat if I set something new in front of her.  She even turns up her nose at a can of tuna fish.  Though she does like to eat popcorn, Doritos, and goldfish crackers.

The birds that visit our feeders just outside the window are picky eaters as well.  A few months ago when I first began feeding the birds I bought an expensive birdseed mix, thinking I would lure them in with the good stuff then when they were used to coming to the feeders switch to a cheaper seed.  Well, I did switch to a cheaper bag of seed a few weeks ago, and they aren’t eating it.  Usually they will eat all the seed from the feeder in about two days.  It has been three weeks now and maybe they have eaten two inches of it.  It’s time to go buy the expensive seed again as I am missing the bright colors of the cardinals and bluejays.

If you have kids and they are picky eaters, you know what a challenge it can be to get them to try something new.  Something besides their three favorite foods….usually macaroni and cheese, pizza, and hotdogs.  I wonder if God feels the same way when He sees us consistently avoiding the good food He has prepared for us.  I’m sure He would like to see us eating healthy spiritual food.  I challenge you today to turn off your favorite tv show, put down the book you are reading, or turn off the computer and spend that time instead  sitting down to the spiritual feast God has prepared for you.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!  Psalm 34:8

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!  Psalm 119:103

Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!  Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!  1 Chronicles 16:10-11

When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”  Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.  Psalm 27:8-9
