When my oldest daughter started the 9th grade some of the kids began calling her “Pocket Child”. The other kids said she was so small she could fit in somebody’s pocket.
In a comment on a previous blog a woman suggested the idea of riding around in God’s front pocket. I really like that idea! If I am peeking out the top of God’s pocket then my view of every situation would be seen from a different perspective. Instead of little irritations, annoyances, temptations and interruptions I would see an opportunity to share the love God is sharing with me. A time to rely on the power of the One carrying me to overcome the evil confronting us.
I think If I rode around in God’s pocket my reaction to that annoying person who stands too close and talks to much, or the waitress who seems so slow, or the person who cut me off in traffic would change. Instead of losing my patience I would see a person in need of God’s love. A person to share the pocket of God with rather than relagating them to a stay in the dog house. Just think of the party we could have in the front pocket of God’s shirt!
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 1 John 4:9
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13 New Living Translation
well, I’ll have to take the time to comment again anyway, even though I’m too lazy to keep putting my e-mail on this blog constantly. You are an excellent writer, and I have such a small 8th grade girl in my class this year, and have been wondering how she is going to make it at the Academy this year. Today I was thinking about it again. This will honestly help, if I can share this with her somehow.

I do hope my blogs will be helpful to people. I’m sorry posting a comment is so complicated. Thank you for your vote of confidence in my writing skills. I appreciate it. I happened to read your comment just after I had posted yesterdays blog. I wasn’t feeling so great about it as I felt it was more of a rough draft than a finished writing project.
