Daivd will be a guest blogger today.  He began his career as a sheep herder and ended it as a king.  I especially enjoyed what he wrote in Psalm 63: 1-7 Clear Word Translation.

O Lord, you are my God, I see you.  My soul longs to be in your presence.  My whole being thirsts for you as a desert without water.  I have felt your presence while in the Sanctuary.  I have seen your power and glory work on people’s hearts and change them.  To experience your loving kindness and care is better than anything life can offer; my lips will praise you.  I will give thanks to you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands in prayer.  My deliverance has been like feasting in your presence.  My lips are eager to joyfully sing your praises.  When I go to bed, I think of you; when I awake in the night, my thoughts turn to you.  You have helped me along life’s path.  I feel as secure in your presence as if I were under your wings. 

The second part of verse seven David talks about turning his thoughts to God when he awakes at night.  Most of the time I sleep really well at night.  My head hits the pillow and I’m out til morning.  But, sometimes I do wake up in the middle of the night and I have started using that time to lie in bed and pray.  Usually when I do this I drift off to sleep quickly.  Other times I’m wide awake for awhile, but if I don’t let my mind wander to other things there certainly are plenty of things to pray about!
