What will happen in your 2012? It’s the begining of another year. How are your New Years Resolutions, your plan for the new year, holding up? Are they standing firm or are they crumbling like just another day old cookie? Are you hoping for a better year than last year? We know that the Bible tells us that All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 KJV When good things happen it is easy for us to see God working. But, when the not so fun stuff happens, it’s a little harder to see the good in the darkness. God also tell us For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV God does have a plan. It is our choice whether we follow it or not.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20 NAS Here Jesus gives the invitation. Will we open the door and invite Him in to eat as friends? If we do that, it doesn’t always mean that everything will be wonderful and we will always have pie, ice cream and potato chips to eat. Let’s take a look at Isaiah 30:20.
Though the Lord gave you adversity for food
and suffering for drink,
he will still be with you to teach you.
You will see your teacher with your own eyes.
Here it says that God will give you adversity for food and suffering for drink. This is like inviting Jesus in and all of a sudden instead of pie and ice cream we are eating broccoli sprouts and drinking wheatgrass. Now those are nutritious foods but not always easy to get down. Physically and spiritually. I know this from personal experience! But what happens after Jesus provides you with broccoli sprouts and wheatgrass? Isaiah 30:21 tells us this…
Your own ears will hear Him.
Right behind you a voice will say,
“This is the way you should go,”
whether to the right or to the left.
He is there to teach you. What will He teach you? Let’s read Isaiah 30:22
Then you will destroy all your silver idols
and your precious gold images.
You will throw them out like filthy rags,
saying to them, “Good riddance!”
What are the silver idols and precious gold images that you bow to daily? Verse 22 says they are like filthy rags. Thats right, nothing but trash! Now taking out the trash isn’t always fun, but we sure are glad when it’s done!
So we invite Jesus in and He serves us broccoli sprouts and wheatgrass. Then we listen to His voice and allow Him to teach us. The power of His words then cause us to act on what He has taught us and throw out the trash in our lives. Then what happens? Take a look at Isaiah 30:23
Then the Lord will bless you with rain at planting time.
There will be wonderful harvests and plenty of pastureland for your livestock.
What happens!? THE LORD WILL BLESS US!
So what will happen in your 2012? Will you invite Jesus in for dinner and listen to His voice? Will you accept His plan for you?
