The other night I woke up while it was still dark. I heard a familiar voice run thru my head…..”C’mere, I want to show you something.” I looked at the clock. 1:30. While it is always exciting to see what God wants to show me, I have to admit I do like to sleep at what I consider the middle of the night. After all isn’t getting up at 1:30 am a little more like getting up late than getting up early? So I said, “1:30 is so early God. Can’t I just sleep for awhile longer? I don’t like getting up at 1:30.” So being the compassionate Father that He is, I drifted off to sleep. I woke up later about 4 or 5am which is the usual for me and immediately heard the same thing, “C’mere, I want to show you something”. Getting up is so much easier when it’s actually morning….God must have been in a different time zone the first time. At that time I was reading the book “Captivating” by Jon and Staci Eldridge. I was on Chapter 10 and there was a poem at the end of the chapter. It is longer than I want to post here but this is the part that made me stop and think a thought.
Oh weary tired and worn, let out your sighs
and drop that heavy load you hold because mine is light.
I know you through and through theres no need to hide,
I want to show you love that is high and deep and wide.
“Drop that heavy load you hold because mine is light”. I saw the word “light” here in a whole new way. As you’re sitting there pretend to reach out and pick up your burden, I’m sure it’s not far away. Hold it there on your lap. You can see Jesus standing right in front of you. You begin to unwrap your burden and show it to Him. You don’t need words to express yourself. Then His brightness shines so brightly that you can no longer see your burden. You can only see the Light. Wouldn’t it be great if this year we let Jesus shine so brightly into our lives that we only see Him in everything that we do? Every moment we live and every choice we make?
